Stream of Sound - Saturday 12th July

Stream of Sound is a young and thriving acapella choir based in Stourbridge. Their amazingly wide repertoire of song traditions includes British folk, American shape-note hymns, South African, Balkan and Georgian, blues and gospel, and songs drawing on Black Country industrial heritage, all sung with great energy and humour. The choir believes in passing down these traditions to its younger members as well as sharing them with audiences of all sizes, so that many more can enjoy them as much as the singers themselves do.
 
This event takes place shortly before this year’s Sidmouth Folk Festival to which the choir has been invited yet again.  The choir has been running workshops for teenagers at the festival for many years, and in more recent times parents of attendees pushed for workshops for adults too!  Over the course of this year's festival, our performance group will lead at least seven workshops for young and old, as well as performing in various events throughout the Sidmouth week.
 
Stream of Sound are delighted to help raise funds for St George’s Hall and feel that supporting local independent venues is incredibly important for artists and communities alike. Part of the ticket money will also subsidise participation at Sidmouth for choir members who would not otherwise be able to afford to go.
